Challenge
Pets at Home’s own brand team needed to understand consumer behaviours and preferences around festive pet treat buying to inform the development of their 2025 Christmas treats range, including advent calendars, stockings, and speciality items.
Solution
We conducted an online community research study over several days with a mix of cat and dog owners. Participants completed various activities including shopper missions and brand packaging exploration, providing real-time insights into their Christmas pet treat buying experiences and preferences.
Outcome
The research revealed key insights about seasonal shopping priorities, packaging preferences, and brand considerations. The study identified specific packaging elements that attract consumers, the relative importance of various pack claims, and how these factors shift during the holiday season and for festive products. These insights directly informed the product range development, packaging design, and branding strategy for the 2025 Christmas treats range.
